European Ski Marathon Championships & Ganghoferlauf info for the upcoming weekend:
The OC decidet to shorten the racing courses.
The warm wind should finally stop tonight and we are expecting minus degrees in the following nights.
The weather forecast is promising colder days starting from tomorrow (26.2.2025).
The OC will finalize the track layout tomorrow or on Thursday 27.2.2025.
They are already bringing snow, and covering the crucial ski coarse sections.
The OC will use different laps: 16 km, 10 km and 6 km,
and they will provide following distances: 48 km classic long, 42km skating long, 26km classic short and 22km skating short
The courses should be still good quality.
Dear Ganghoferlauf family!
In just a couple of days, we will once again be together at Austria’s largest and oldest cross-country race – the 58th Ganghoferlauf – this time with a few changes. To shorten the wait and give you time to familiarise yourself with the important changes, we are sending you the most important informations for the race weekend.
This way you will be perfectly prepared for the 58th Ganghoferlauf Leutasch.
We look forward to seeing you and the sporting highlights together and wish you the best of luck!
The most important information in advance:
- The use of fluoride wax is prohibited and will lead to disqualification!
– This also applies to littering outside the littering zones at the refreshment stations!
- Attention: New starting order for the Mini and Special Ganghoferlauf! For organisational reasons, the times had to be adjusted. More information can be found at the end of this message.
- Here you will find the entire race programme and supporting programme.
- For quality reasons, the routes will be shortened this year and several laps will be run. The start is at the Ganghofer Ski Stadium (near the Leutasch football pitch) and the finish area will be at the Wettersteinhalle Leutasch. The start of the Mini and Special Ganghoferlauf, the Expo Area, the Opening Ceremony, the Pasta Party and the big raffle will also take place there. The race office (Saal Hohe Munde) and the shower facilities (Alpenbad Leutasch or Wettersteinhalle) are also in the immediate vicinity.
- The routes lead from the Ganghofer Ski Stadium to the Muggenmoos and back to the Wettersteinhalle. Depending on the distance/race, there are 1-3 laps to complete. Please note that there will be 1-2 different laps per distance/race. These are labelled at the junctions as ‘Long Lap’ (Lange Runde) and ‘Short Lap’ (Kurze Runde). With the exception of the Fun Race, which will be run in one lap and is labelled ‘10 km Fun Race’. The respective routes are explained below and the route maps including elevation profiles are correctly linked in each case. Please memorise the routes so that you know exactly how to run come race day!
- Classic Long Distance: 2x Long Lap 16 km + 1x Short Lap 10,0 km = 42 km / 367 hm
= 2x Long Lap to Muggenmoos + 1x Short Lap “Moos”
- Classic Short Distance: 1x Long Lap 16 km + 1 x Short Lap 10 km = 26 km / 211 hm
= 1x Long Lap to Muggenmoos + 1x Short Lap “Moos”
- Skating Long Distance: 1x Long Lap 16 km + 2x Short Lap 12,5 km = 41 km / 351 hm
= 1x Long Lap to Muggenmoos + 2x Short Lap “Skating Center”
- Skating Short Distance: 2x Short Lap 12,5 km = 25 km / 120 hm
= 2x Short Lap “Skating Center”
- Fun Race 10 km: 1x Short Lap 10 km = 10 km / 51 hm
= 1x Short Lap “Moos”
- Due to the lap race, there will be overtaking manoeuvres for the leading groups. We kindly ask everyone to be self-assessing, fair and respectful!
- Livestreams: The Ganghoferlauf as well as the Mini and Special Ganghoferlauf will be broadcast live on the internet here.
EUROPEAN SKI MARATHON CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025
The European Ski Marathon Championships will take place this year as part of the Ganghoferlauf! The Leutasch Ski Club, Euroloppet and the Seefeld Tourism Board therefore invite you to the opening ceremony on Friday from 17:00 in the Wettersteinhalle Leutasch. Cultural performances by local clubs, the TERREX expo, food and drinks await you there. We look forward to seeing you there!
Some facts regarding the European Ski Marathon Championships
- The European Championships will take place in the following categories: Classic short & long, skating short & long and skating short team (men, women & mixed). All participants in the classic short & long and skating short & long disciplines automatically take part in the European Championships. The overall top 3 of each gender will be crowned European champion or runner-up. The European Champion titles will not be awarded in the various age categories and in the mini/special Ganghoferlauf!
- We ask the top 3 of the respective distances to wait briefly at the finish line after crossing the finish line and take part in the Flower Ceremony & interviews!
Arrival and Transfer
- Free public transport for travelling to and from the Ganghoferlauf
If you want to be fully mobile in the extensive Seefeld region, you don’t need a car: That’s why we cordially invite you to travel to the region by train and then use all public transport on the high plateau free of charge on presentation of your guest card. For all those who are not staying overnight in the region, we provide a free bus ticket within the region for travelling to and from the Ganghoferlauf. If you are interested, please let the Leutasch information office (info.leutasch@seefeld.com) know your first name, surname and e-mail address. All information about travelling and mobility can be found here: Arrival & mobility at the Ganghoferlauf
- There are numerous car parks available at various locations in Leutasch. Please follow the instructions of the security services (fire brigade and security), who are stationed at several points and crossroads in Leutasch and will direct you to the nearest free car park. We ask you to get to the starting line on foot.
Green Event Tirol
- This year, the Ganghoferlauf is being organised as a Green Event Tirol. The most important sustainability measures include waste avoidance and separation, the use of returnable and reusable containers, the promotion of travelling by public transport and the sourcing of local products and suppliers. For example, local ingredients and producers are used for catering and more than 50% of the meals are meat-free. For example, the vegan Bolognese comes from Biohotel Leutascherhof, the vegan potato soup from Naturhotel Aufatmen, the drinks from Silberquelle Tirol, the sports nutrition from Xenofit in Bavaria and the ingredients, fruit etc. from Neurauter Frisch. In addition, we have now found an innovative solution for reusing the medals. All information about the Green Event can be found here.
- We ask you to be careful when separating your rubbish and to dispose of it in the correct rubbish bins! Reusable containers (cups, bottles) must be returned to the refreshment stations or catering stands in the hall or left on site.
