PLANICA SKI MARATHON 2025
An International Ski Marathon for Amateurs and Professionals in Classic and Skating Style.
In Planica (Slovenia), where the World Ski Championships were held.
Two days of competition and two styles: classic and skating. There are separate children’s races. The route is on flat terrain, without steep slopes or extreme sections.
Enjoy the stunning winter landscapes as you ski on the well-prepared tracks in the Planica-Rateče valley.

Slovenia is not only the green heart of Europe but also a country that annually hosts the largest international winter sports competitions. Skiing is a beloved sport here, and there are dozens of prepared tracks.

The trip to the marathon will be memorable thanks to the three-day event program. On Friday, an opening ceremony with a concert will be held in Kranjska Gora. Kids Race: The Planica Ski Marathon will also feature a special race for children, allowing young skiers to join in the excitement. With distances and age categories designed for kids, every young participant can enjoy the thrill of the event.
How to Get There?
Slovenia is part of the Schengen area.
You can reach it via Ljubljana or other nearby airports: Venice (3 hours by car), Trieste (1.5 hours), Zagreb (2 hours). Slightly further away, 4-5 hours, are Vienna, Munich, Budapest, and Belgrade.
From Ljubljana to Kranjska Gora:
By car: 85 km to Planica, the journey takes 1 hour 10 minutes.
By bus: The trip to Kranjska Gora will take about 2 hours.
By train: First to Jesenice (1 hour 10 minutes), then by bus to Kranjska Gora (25 minutes).
Slovenia itself is beautiful and is very conveniently located in the center of Europe, making it a great starting point for an exciting journey.
